Purveyors of contemporary ambient and electronic inspired music, A Winged Victory for the Sullen make a bold return on new album “The Undivided Five”, their debut for Ninja Tune. The pair, made up of Dustin O’Halloran and Adam Wiltzie, have created iconic film scores and forward-thinking ambient groups, releasing a series of game-changing records for Erased Tapes and Kranky and have amassed over 30 million streams on Spotify alone.

Critical acclaim for their 2011 self titled debut album came from Pitchfork (7.3/10), The Guardian, Mojo (4*), Uncut (4*), Drowned In Sound (9/10), The Quietus (feature), Mojo (Best of 2011) and many more.

In 2014 their second studio album “Atomos” gained once again fantastic press support from The Guardian (4*), The Arts Desk, Financial Times, Telegraph (4*), Evening Standard (4*), The Times (4*), The Observer (4*), Uncut (7/10), London in Stereo (feature), Music Week, and more. Positive live press from NME, Brooklyn Vegan, Magnetic Mag: (4/5), New York Observer: Feature, Noisey-Vice. The duo have emerged alongside peers like Max Richter, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Tim Hecker and Fennesz.

Their 2014 album “Atomos” was the product of a commission to score a new performance by Royal Ballet choreographer Wayne McGregor, while 2016’s “Iris” was the score for director Jalil Lespert’s thriller, “In the Shadow of Iris”.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen have played some of the world’s most celebrated venues, including a sold out Boiler Room performance at London’s Barbican, and a 2015 BBC Proms show curated by Mary Anne Hobbs at the Royal Albert Hall.

Stellar festival performances include Primavera, Latitude, MIRA festival, The Great Escape and more. The duo toured North America in 2011 with stops in New York, LA, Toronto and a year later toured Europe playing in London, Manchester, Amsterdam and Paris, performing headline shows with Olafur Arnalds along the way.

The band continually receives strong radio support from Mary Anne Hobbs who recently called them “One of my favourite musicians of all time” and chose AWVFTS as her Album of the Year (BBC 6 Music) Other plays have stemmed from Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1), Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe with support at BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4. The duo also featured in BBC 6 Music’s Late Night Proms project.

Single ‘Steep Hills of Vicodin Tears’ currently has over 7.2 million streams on Spotify alone and has been added to over 259 playlists. The track is taken from their self titled debut album which now has over 14.4 million streams on Spotify. Previous albums tracks have been added to Apple Music Electronic and Classical playlists such as Pure Ambient, Swift Concentration and Classicaltronics.
