After the huge, consolidating success of 1992’s Waking Hours, Twisted was a confident return for Del Amitri, now comfortably established as one of the 90s most interesting, exhilarating groups. Although they were very much in another lane, it’s impossible not to hear the subtle influence they had on the-then current Britpop phenomenon with the chiming Start With Me and Never Enough. Elsewhere, first single Here With Me sounds like a great lost track from an early 70s rock album, and Driving With The Brakes On, and It Might As Well Be You underline how adept the group were with a ballad. But for many listeners, it was all about one track. Although peaking in the UK at No 22, Roll To Me hit No 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in America. Twisted entered the charts at No 3 in the UK and remained on the listings for six months.
